New EMC Chassis Dynamometer Installed for Electric Vehicle Testing

CKC is excited to announce the arrival and installation of our new dynamometer, a major step forward in our electric vehicle testing capabilities! The Innco Systems RPS40-55/100-8-F (1.8t/Axle) is a free-standing chassis dynamometer purpose-built for EMC and EMI testing of electric vehicles inside anechoic chambers. Its free-standing, turntable-compatible design allows for quick setup and storage, while two independently driven axle modules (4 × 12 kW motors) accommodate front-, rear-, and all-wheel-drive EV configurations with a rated speed of 55 km/h and a maximum speed of 100 km/h.
Each wheel pair is powered by its own motor/generator with full power feedback, enabling efficient “hilldrive” mode operation that reduces heat buildup and overall current draw, an important advantage when running continuous EV drivetrain tests in a temperature-controlled chamber. All electronics are housed in a shielded, radio-interference-suppressed enclosure, keeping RF emissions below CISPR 22 Class B limits while withstanding field strengths up to 200 V/m, ensuring the dynamometer itself doesn’t compromise EMC measurement integrity.
A fast PLC, fiber-optic-linked system controller, and the DynamPro 4.0 software platform give technicians precise control over acceleration, deceleration, and custom speed profiles, including ABS test sequences, making this system a reliable, EV-focused solution for automotive EMC development and homologation testing.
